FEMINA POTENS MONTHLY SIZZLE! LITERARY EVENT

SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA – October 11, 2008 - Femina Potens proudly presents "SIZZLE," the monthly Bay Area award winning literary erotica series. SIZZLE heats up the Castro on the second Saturday of every month merging Internationally acclaimed queer and erotic authors with the Bay Area's top emerging local writers, spoken word artists and performers. Our open mic features some of the hottest most eclectic performances and invites you to step up and make your voice heard.

This September, SIZZLE is part of San Francisco's Litquake. Litquake is a San Francisco literary festival with heart, guts and a taste for the wilder side of the literary world. The festivities include a Lit Crawl, a three-hour literary crawl through the heart of San Francisco's Mission District. We will carry you through our version of the traditional pub-crawl, featuring various and amazing literary readings. Femina Potens & Sizzle Erotic Lit Night: An Evening of Hot Steamy Queer Erotic Literature and Memoirs, will be presenting at Intersection for The Arts Gallery (446 Valencia Street). Sizzle is proud to feature artists Meliza Bañales, Daphne Gottlieb, Lorelei Lee, Katia Noyes heating up the stage on Saturday October 11, 6:00-7:00pm. As well as a special live virtual performance by Madison Young from Spanko Island Resort in Costa Rica.

Meliza Bañales is originally from Los Angeles. She is the author of Say It With Your Whole Mouth and the forthcoming 51 Poems About Nothing At All. Her work can be found in the anthologies Without a Net, Baby, Remember My Name, and Word Warriors. Her film with Mary Guzmán, Do the Math, was the winner of a 2006 Frameline Completion Grant.

Daphne Gottlieb shot a man in Reno just to watch him die. She is the award-winning author of five books (poetry, graphic novel), and editor of two anthologies. Her poetry and nonfiction appear in more than 30 anthologies.

Lorelei Lee is a writer, undergraduate student, and porn performer. She has been published in Transfer Magazine and Graphite and she has been awarded both a National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts youngARTS Scholarship and the Bishop Award for Best Tit-Tortured Model 2005. She has self-published two chapbooks — Shades of Sky (1996) and Doublefisted (2002) — and has been

Katia Noyes left home at the age of 15. She has dabbled in careers as a roofer, math tutor, journalist, go-go dancer and content developer. Her life adventures resulted in creating her debut novel, Crashing America, a story of a young and queer heroine. Crashing America was a Book Sense Notable Book and was chosen as one of the Ten Best Gay/Lesbian Books of 2005 by Amazon.com and the United Kingdom's Rainbow Network. It was also nominated for the Northern California Book Award, Publishing Triangle Award, and Lambda Literary Award. Her short stories have been published by Cleis and Down There Press.
